May News and Updates

This month has seen the start of the County and National competitions, with some great early season bowls being played.

The quarter and semi-finals of the men’s U25 pairs took place on the 22nd May at West Moors.

Ryan and Will Scammell took on Connor Joyce and Alex Dytham in the quarter finals. This turned out to be a close and exciting game. Ryan and Will forged ahead initially but Connor and Alex staged a strong comeback, with the brothers just managing to hang on for the win at the end.

The afternoon saw Ryan and Will continue to be the in form pair, managing a win against James Roe and Dean Ballard. The other semi-final saw Luc and Marc Collins play Oli Kenway and Cai Steadman. Both pairs played some great bowls at times, with Oli and Cai eventually coming out on top.

The final will be played on 23/24th July to see who will go up the National finals at Leamington Spa and represent Dorset. Good luck to both pairs.

The Ladies fours saw Emma Langridge, Millie Tuck and Rebecca Cresswell (with Penny) make it through to the semi finals of this event, eventually being beaten by Bridget Hodder, Julie Leake, Caroline Wilson and Stef Pinson. A great run, beating some strong opposition on the way.

Meanwhile, the men’s triples saw a number of juniors in action. Notably, Cai Steadman and Oli Kenway (with A Paulley) made it through to the quarter finals.

We are now into the Ladies triples and men’s fours competitions. The ladies’ triples is still in its early stages, however, Emma, Millie and Rebecca are still going strong. In the men’s fours Oli Kenway, Cai Steadman, Nathan Wood and Alex Dytham are all through to the quarter and semi finals in their respective teams. Good Luck to everyone.

Apart from the main county competitions don’t forget the U16 girls and U16 boys ( Steadman Family Trophy) competition at Blandford on Saturday 9th July. It’s not too late to enter. Just ask a coach for an entry form.

Amy Rose and White Rose competitions also take place this month – more details to follow.

Good luck to everyone, and if you have something you want to mention then just let Louise Collins or one of the coaches know.

See you all soon.
