Dorset Outdoor U12 & U18 Tournament
Updated: 14 hours ago

Our annual Dorset outdoor U12 and U18 tournament took place on the August bank holiday Monday at Poole Park. Twenty of the top under eighteen bowlers from various clubs competed across two age categories to determine the Dorset outdoor singles champions for 2026. The morning featured highly competitive round-robin groups, culminating in finals during the afternoon. Participants who did not advance to the singles finals had the opportunity to join an afternoon pairs competition.
Under 12 Singles
Junior Weller from West Moors BC came out on top to win the U12 title after a very competitve final against Sebastian. This really was a remarkable achievement considering the short time that Junior has been bowling. Well done!

Under 18 Singles
Hannah Edwards from Dorchester BC won a very closely fought and competitive final against Smaranda Rampelt from Branksome Park BC, winning by one shot on the very last end to retain the title for a second year in a row.

The pairs competition ran in prallel to the singles finals throughout the afternoon. Finlay and Henry won the under 12 pairs with Evie and Albert runners up. In the Under 18 pairs, Matthew and Bleu came from behind to win the title on the very last shot of the match against Tom and Lucie. This was such a fitting end to a very competitve day of bowls that was enjoyed by all.
The event received tremendous support from players, parents, grandparents, and even pets! The DYBA extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the tournament's success, including the Poole Park Bowls Club for hosting. Special appreciation goes to the Dorset County Presidents, Diane Titheridge-Byrne and Graham Rock, who were present to support the competitors throughout the day and award the trophies to the eventual winners. The Acadamy would also like to thank Donna Rock (DLR Handicrafts) who very kindly donated personalised mugs for all the winners and runners up.
