Opening Ceremony for Hayling Island

The Dorset Youth Bowls Academy and a Bowls England Disability team were invited to participate in the Opening Celebrations for Hayling Island’s new outdoor all-weather rinks.

The transition from bowling indoors in a warm atmosphere to bowling outdoors on a “cool” Saturday afternoon was very difficult for the Academy youngsters but they all adapted well and it was a massive learning curve which they handled extremely well. Although they were beaten on both rinks the youngsters showed determination all the way to the last end. After the match the hosts provided a wonderful spread which was enjoyed not only by the bowlers but by the families who attended.
